Micky Finn’s Releases Special Rare Character Bourbon
Long known as the leader in rare bourbons and allocated items in the Pee Dee, Micky Finn’s has just released a new Rare Character bourbon that is not only unique to the store itself, but has an especially personal connection to both the store and the Florence community. This version of Rare Character, Red Roost Reserve, honors the memory of Florence native Tallon Davis Goff, who died tragically last year in a boating accident. Tallon was born in Florence in December, 2002 and graduated from West Florence High School where he was also a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. In 2021, Tallon enrolled at the University of South Carolina and received the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. Despite beginning his academic career in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, he quickly decided that the Darla Moore School of Business was where he wanted to be. Tallon was an extraordinarily devoted Gamecock fan and proud promoter of the Moore School. He was expected to graduate in 2025. As the University describes him, He exemplified many of the Moore School’s core values - persistence, integrity, loyalty, and passion. Tallon approached everything he did with immense dedication, including his education and academics. He completed his coursework with an outstanding GPA and had even explored continuing his education at the Joseph F. Rice School of Law. Beyond the classroom, Tallon served as the Marshal of Sigma Nu Fraternity, where he built lifelong friendships and embodied leadership. He was an avid supporter of Gamecock Athletics, proudly sporting his Garnet and Black overalls every Saturday in the fall at Williams-Brice Stadium. Tallon was a devoted outdoorsman, avid fisherman, and, of course, a loyal Gamecock. The logo on the bottle was designed by Florence native Schipp Johnston and his two daughters, Schipman and Emma, incorporating those three interests that were such a part of Tallon's life. Not only do the product and its label honor Tallon, but all proceeds go to the Tallon Davis Goff Memorial Scholarship at the University of South Carolina.
